"This funding is the first of its kind. No one has invested this amount of money towards anti-hate efforts," Mary Anne Foo, executive director of the Orange County Asian and Pacific Islander Community Alliance (OCAPICA). "So, it's so significant that it will move the needle." Now, through the state grants, OCAPICA is allocating millions of dollars to support other organizations and expand its resources like in-language services among many other efforts. "It's really important to work with the Black communities, Latinx communities, Jewish communities, Muslim communities -- hate affects us all," said Foo.

“The Stop the Hate movement and the funding behind it has been an unbelievably long time coming. As STH efforts continue to gather strength throughout California, I think you’ll agree that this mainstream news video marks a solid victory. I confess to having watched it three times just to hear OCAPICA Executive Director Mary Anne Foo talk about ‘moving the needle’ with Stop the Hate funding.” said Celeste Steward from the California State Library.
